USDT exists on many blockchains, and each version only works on its own network. TRC-20 USDT lives on Tron, ERC-20 USDT on Ethereum, BEP-20 USDT on BNB Chain, SPL USDT on Solana and jetton USDT on TON. USDT0 is the omnichain version of USDT that moves between chains over LayerZero, used on Arbitrum, Plasma and other networks. You cannot send USDT from one network straight to an address on another: you need a cross-chain route, such as those compared in L2Pass Swap, which has a 0% L2Pass fee on stablecoin swaps.

USDT by network

EVM networks (Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Plasma and others) share the same 0x address format. The same address works on all of them, but the tokens on each network are separate. Sending ERC-20 USDT to your address on BNB Chain does not move it there.

What it costs to receive USDT on each network

The destination network fee is deducted from the amount you receive, so you do not need gas on the destination network to receive. Test quotes for 1,000 USDT from Tron on L2Pass RFQ on October 19, 2026 (about 17:50 UTC): To Plasma, the NEAR Intents provider fee was 0.2% instead of 0.01%, so less arrived even though the network fee was lowest. How to choose a network

  • Where you will use it. Pick the network of the exchange, app or person you are paying. An exchange shows which networks it accepts for deposits.
  • Gas you hold. To send USDT later, you need the network’s gas token: TRX on Tron, ETH on Ethereum or Arbitrum, SOL on Solana and so on.
  • Cost to send. Network fees differ a lot. Ethereum is usually the most expensive to send from; Tron, Solana and the layer 2 networks are usually cheaper.

Things to know

  • Pick the right network on an exchange. When you withdraw or deposit USDT, the network you choose must match the address. Tokens sent on the wrong network may be lost or need manual recovery.
  • USDT0 and USDT. On Arbitrum and Plasma, the USDT that L2Pass Swap delivers is USDT0. L2Pass Swap can move it to and from USDT on Tron, Ethereum and other networks.
  • Availability. The quote shows which routes are available for your pair at the moment. If no route is listed, try again later or choose another destination network.

FAQ

TRC-20 USDT runs on Tron and uses TRX for fees. ERC-20 USDT runs on Ethereum and uses ETH. Both are USDT issued by Tether, but they live on separate networks, so you need a cross-chain route to move between them.
No. Tron and Ethereum use different networks and address formats. Use a cross-chain route, such as Bridge USDT from Tron to Ethereum.
USDT0 is the omnichain version of USDT, moved between chains over LayerZero. In L2Pass Swap it is the USDT on Arbitrum and Plasma, and the USDT native bridge route moves it, including from Tron.
It depends on the route and the moment. For receiving, the quote already includes the destination network fee. For sending, compare the gas cost of the network you send from.
